Development of the Nub or "Roadmap to Healthy Nub
Development
If you have made it this far in the website,
hopefully, you have already stopped in the
Birth of the Nub page and now have a little
bit of background info on what has happened
with the foot up to this stage. (If you
haven't made is there yet, I would suggest
starting there before reading this page.  You
can follow this
link, or use the navigation bar
at the top of the page.)

The Nub was finally freed from the confines
of the hospital 6 days after being placed
there.  This is quite the story in itself as the
pre-nub was placed in the hospital under the
escort and supervision of an armed police
officer.  I guess this was to fend off all of the
paparazzi who were swarming around the
hospital.  With such a high profile celebrity in
the process of being born at the med center
the hospital was more comfortable having an
officer of the law on duty to control the
crowd.  Since the Nub is such a high profile
celebrity (the kind which no one knows
about) there were all of kinds of bureaucratic
red tape that needed to be cut in order to
secure his release.   The get the release
papers, it was first necessary for the Nub to
prove his worth in battle and his ability to
transport himself without assistance from
anything or anyone other than Matt, of
course, and a lonely pair of wisecracking
crutches.  After quite a bit of effort and
many strainings with much painings, the Nub
was able to successfully navigate around the
nurse's station and up and down half a flight
of stairs on the 5th floor of the KU Med
center.  Upon successful completion of the
physical fitness test, and some other tests
which will not be discussed here for the sake
of decency, the Nub was cleared to leave the
hospital and return home to the trailer in
east Lawrence.

As the pictures of the Nub show, the healing
process is continuing well.  When the Nub
first arrived back at the trailer, there was a
large amount of bruising and oozing
associated with the wound on the face of the
Nub.  Over the course of the past week,
since the Nub has been at home resting, the
bruising has continued to diminish, and the
oozing has all but completely stopped.
The pictures which have been posted show
the development of the Nub since release
from the hospital on September 6, 2006,
and more pictures will be posted over time
so this can become a "Roadmap to Healthy
Nub Development".  A standard to which all
other future Nub developments can be
compared.
